The featured album was one out of the vaults - a 1982
vinyl album called OBADEEA by the Shetland
band HOM BRU (Celtic Music) I've been
relearning a few tunes from this album and decided to
feature it on the show, although it's probably
unprocurable these days. Mostly Shetland tunes,
both old and new, and some more recent songs and tunes as
well. I love it. The following tracks were

Australian based artists, and some were played on
Australian made instruments. The featured album was
NEVER AT HOME by BLACKWOOD (www.makingmusic.com.au).
This is the second excellent album from a Victorian band
who draw their material from various traditions, as well
as performing their own and other recent
compositions. Two of the band members are also
skilled instrument makers. The following tracks

The featured album was A TIME TO SING! This
is a CD reissue of a recording made in 1984 of a Los
Angeles concert featuring HOLLY NEAR, ARLO GUTHRIE,
RONNIE GILBERT & PETE SEEGER, with the title HARP.
Originally released on the Redwood label, the reissue
from APPLESEED (www.appleseedrec.com)
is expanded to two CDs with 13 additional songs.
Uplifting performances from four outstanding artists, but
slightly unsettling in the contemporary relevance of many
of the songs almost two decades after the recording was
made. We are slow to learn the lessons of the past.
The following tracks were scattered through the
program:
OH MARY DON'T YOU WEEP; SOMOS EL BARCO; OH

The featured album was WHERE THE SKY MEETS THE
SEA by 'well established' Scottish group THE
MCCALMANS (Greentrax www.greentrax.com
). With 22 albums since 1964 it is unlikely these

however I was in the mood for some tight harmony singing
and this new CD delivers that in good measure. The

The featured album was A FIG FOR A KISS
by PROVIDENCE (Appleseed www.appleseedrec.com
) A fine new album from a Dublin-based quintet
presenting Irish traditional tunes and songs, happily,
without the speedy high-powered and over produced

who have passed the tradition down. The following

nod to some other Canadian songwriters, presented by a
fine mature voice, custom made for ballads.
