The featured album was THE OZARK SHEIKS by UNCLE
CUCKLEBURR'S CHAMPION POSSUM CARVERS www.possumcarvers.com
(MayApple Records). This Arkansas duo serves up a
visceral mix of what they describe as 'early American
music', rather than choosing to adapt more usual terms
such as mountain music or old time, and go so far as to
describe their sound as 'Rurnt' ('ruined' in the old
Ozark vernacular). This is joyously raw music, but
very listenable. The following tracks were
scattered through the program:
NO LOW DOWN HANGING AROUND; POSSUM CARVERS' BOLL

The featured album was MANY ROADS, a self produced CD by
Irish born singer songwriter MARTIN DOHERTY, a man
posessed of an untainted Irish accent despite thirty
years Australian residence. Many tracks, including
some originals, reflect the artist's strong commitment to
issues of social justice and workers' rights, and an
unromanticised awareness of their historical
context. Good vocals and sensitive accompaniment
throughout make this a very good album. The
following tracks (all * Australian content) were
