The featured album was WELCOME HERE AGAIN by
MARTIN HAYES & DENNIS CAHILL (Green

This is the fifth CD from this highly respected
instrumental duo, presenting another grand
collection of Irish traditional style fiddle
tunes all given Martin Hayes' sensitive and
expressive interpretation, with accompaniment
mostly on guitar.
The program also included an interview with
Steven Taberner, founder of the very impressive
and rather weird Spooky Men's Chorale, who will
be appearing at the National Folk Festival coming
up in a few weeks. The interview came courtesy of
Jan Nary, promoting the Festival.

The featured albums were the four volumes of the
OLD TOWN SCHOOL OF FOLK MUSIC SONGBOOK www.oldtownschool.org
(Bloodshot Records). A hefty collection of
American songs, many given new and innovative
interpretations by a wide range of artists.
The School was established in 1957 and currently
has over 6000 students, almost half of them
children. The School hosts concerts,
publishes and "remains committed to teaching
and presenting music that reflects the cultural
traditions of Chicago's diverse
communities". A fine organisation

The featured album was DIRT FARMER by LEVON

(Vanguard). The first studio recording in
25 years from the iconic drummer from The Band,
whose voice has largely recovered following a
bout of throat cancer in 1996. The voice is
different but still strong and
unmistakable. The album includes several
songs learned as a child on a cotton farm in the
Arkansas delta and is outstanding
