This EP was commissioned by Parramatta Female Factory Friends, who promote awareness about the history, heritage and legacy of the historic institutional precinct, "a site of
conscience". The Female Factory operated from 1821 to 1847 as an assignment depot, prison, place of industry and medical facility for convict women in the young colony.
